How to get the look: Festival Make Up

How to get the look: Festival Make Up

Follow my step by step guide to achieve your festival make up look this summer

Skin Preparation:

For the skin preparation, we’ve taken into account that you will probably be getting ready in a tent and might have to put up with all kinds of weather conditions, because let’s face it: if you’re at a festival in England, anything is possible. So firstly,

Charli cleaned and exfoliated my face using the Kiki pure clean & scrub & peel wipes before applying Estée Lauder global anti-ageing wake up balm. The wipes are really good, so they’re perfect to have to remove your makeup at night too!

Eyes:

Top tip! Because it’s a festival and no doubt you’ll want as much colour and glitter on your eyes as possible, it’s important to do your eyes before your base because there’s likely to be a lot of excess sparkles down your face, so you can just wipe it off this way.

For the eye base, Charli used one of my favourite palettes, which is one of the Jean-Michel Basquiat x urban decay palettes. I’m literally obsessed with this collaboration, which is exclusive to Selfridges, because the colours are so incredible and the pigment is great too, meaning the colours goes on well and lasts a long time. We used shade studio all the way to the top of the brows.

Next, Charli used Rimmel scandal eyes eyeshadow stick in Paranoid Purple close to the top and bottom lashes for a pop of colour. It’s a waterproof stick which is great for the weather, or if you get overwhelmed listening to your favourite artist or, like me, bump into an ex boyfriend!

Next, Charli applied Jean-Michel Basquiat x urban decay palette in Neo to the eyelid and Smoked it out by blending, before applying shade 1960 from the same palette to my outer corner and crease.

To add some extra sparkle, Charli finished off my eyes by adding some Obsessive Complisove acosmetics glitter in Magneta to my Inner eyes and lid. This glitter is great because it’s also vegan!

For mascara, Charli used Estée Lauder sumptuous extreme as it’s waterproof and dramatic, and then she brushed up my brows using Illamasqua precision brow gel. She applied this by rolling the gel onto a mascara brush and rolling it through the brows.

Base: Jean michel basquiat x urban decay palette (I’m wearing Studio)

Close to lashes: Rimmel (I’m wearing Paranoid Purple)

Over the top: Jean michel basquiat x urban decay palette (I’m wearing Neo; smoke it out with Cream)

Outer corner and crease: Jean michel basquiat x urban decay palette

Inner eyes and lid: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (I’m wearing Magenta)

Brows: Illamasqua Brow Gel (I’m wearing Strike)

Mascara: Estee Lauder

Base:

After clearing up the inevitable mess left over from the eyes, Charli then applied Bobbi brown long wear even finish foundation. This is a great foundation as it is spf 15, although I’d recommend using a proper sun factor first if it’s sunny. It’s also oil free and crucially lasts for 12-14 hours. For some added colour, Charli then applied Maybelline dream BB bronze in medium / dark over my cheek bones. It’s a cream so you can use with your fingers, another good thing for tent life!

Next, she covered up my eye bags, I think we can all agree this is a crucial step for festival life! First, Charli started with Bobbi Brown’s creamy corrector before applying their under eye concealer. It’s really important to use a colour corrector before applying concealer, as it takes out the pinky tones. Otherwise, no matter how much concealer you put under your eyes, your bags still look grey.

Then Charli applied Mac mineralise powder, which gives a nice glow but also sets the makeup really well before she applied blusher and bronzer!

Moisturiser: Charlotte Tilbury

Concealer: Max Factor Master Touch (I’m wearing Ivory)

Foundation: Bobby Brown (I’m wearing Beige)

Bronzer Balm: Maybelline BB Bronze (I’m wearing Medium/Dark)

Eye Corrector: Bobby Brown under eyes (I’m wearing Bisque)

Skin Finish: Mac (I’m wearing lightscapade)

Bronzer: Charlotte Tilbury (I’m wearing Medium/Dark)

Blusher: Mac quiktrik stick (I’m wearing Miss Cupcake)

Lips:

When it comes to festivals, my theory is the brighter the lip, the less attention is on tired eyes. Therefore Charli picked a bright colour and over-lined my lips using a Urban Decay 24/7 lip pencil. Lip-liner is also a good move because it lasts longer than lipstick so if you apply it all over your lips you won’t have any embarrassment or worries about reapplying your lips all day if you’re drinking! Finally Charli applied a pretty pink lipstick on top.

Lip Liner: Urban Decay (I’m wearing Speedball)

Lipstick: Estee Edit (I’m wearing Just Saying)

Jacket: Narlaka

Bodysuit: Narlaka
