The perfect perfumes for summer

The perfect perfumes for summer

A couple of days ago the sun suddenly started shining down on London town, and I don’t know if you guys do this too, but I excitedly packed up all my winter clothes, and then decided as well as dressing like summer, I also needed to smell like summer. My Jean-Paul Gaultier Classique perfume has been put away for the summer, and out have come the fruitier scents. I’m really obsessed with four perfumes right now, so I thought I’d share them with you incase, like me, you’re optimistically overhauling for summer. The funny thing is it’s just started to rain as I write this. Damn my optimism, and damn you British weather!

Marc Jacobs Daisy and Daisy dream - Blush editions

I don’t know what I love more about these perfumes, the scent or the bottles. I feel like the Marc Jacobs perfume bottles have become almost as iconic as the Jean-Paul Gaultier female body bottles, whilst the fragrances are fruity but without being sickly. Daisy Blush opens with a dewy combination of water lily and pear-subtle hints of honeysuckle mingle with previous woods for a warm dry down, whilst the Daisy Dream is filled with notes of violet leaves, a colourful heart of rose and lily of the valley and a lingering dry down.  These limited edition blush bottles give the perfume a pink shade making it the cutest addition to your dressing table.

Chloe

Chloe has been a consistent part of my perfume collection for the seven years it’s existed. In fact, I get one from my Gran every single Christmas, and I wear it come rain or shine. The perfume is floral rather than fruity with notes of white rose, and I’d best describe it as clean. It reminds me of the freshness of having just got out the shower. The glass bottle is simple but elegant with a silver-dipped band at its collar and a white ribbon tied in a simple knot around the neck to evoke the tender white rose inside. Also I was lucky enough to receive a bottle with my name on so I thought I’d show off as it’s the coolest thing ever.

CK2

I remember when I was younger everyone wore CK1, and I mean like EVERYONE, so I was so excited when I found out CK2 was coming out a couple of months ago. I kid you not whenever I wear this perfume at least one person comes up to me to ask what my perfume is, and my friend Hannah even went straight to the shop to buy it. It’s that good! Plus, it’s also gender-free, so if your boyfriend ever comes round he can borrow it too. And it has the most exciting story and science behind it.

Basically someone developed a machine that allows you to capture any scent in the world, so they went out into the damp streets of New York and captured the scent of the wet cobblestones - how cool is that?! The scent is therefore urban and fresh, and also contains wasabi, which gives it an unexpected spice.

top: wasabi, mandarin, violet leaf absolute

mid: wet cobblestones, orris concrete, rose absolute

dry: vetiver, incense, sandalwood

The bottle is simple, but also has a great story behind it. The bottle cannot stand without the lid, and it represents and celebrates the diversity of connections between two people. Two individuals defined by who they are, not what they are. Even though it’s arty and abstract, I love the idea that together we are stronger as twos rather than individuals so I totally dig it.

If you want to get any of the scents I’ve mentioned in the post then you can browse through the images below:

Let me know if you found this useful, and if you are familiar with any of the scents do you agree with my selection? Even better if you recommend other scents then leave a comment so others can see.
