One of my favourite things about going to a festival is the chance to embrace festival fashion, well apart from the music of course!
This weekend I got to break my 2016 festival virginity as I headed to Brighton for Great Escape. Great Escape is a three day festival that celebrates new music from around the world, but unlike most festivals, it takes place in venues around the town centre as opposed to in a field. I’m so glad I didn’t go OTT on my floral crowns and gold tattoos as I would’ve been SO out of place walking through the city streets!
As my suitcase is offensively small I could only take one outfit change and a pair of shoes, so I brought an optimistic option and a practical option and mixed and matched throughout the three days. Shock that the dress stayed well within my suitcase (cheers British weather), oh apart from for the shoot - well, I didn’t want to waste an outfit!
Whenever I go to a festival I always braid my hair as it means it looks cool (if I do say so myself) but is as low maintenance as possible and lasts a few days. I went to a place called Butchers in East London, but I’ll do another post on that soon as it’s such a cool place I need to share it with you.
I’m pretty obsessed with every single part of this outfit! The T-shirt is from Rails and I pretty much wear it day and night right now. Actually that’s a lie as I have one in white too so I alternate between the two. You can’t go wrong with a T-shirt and jeans, and these jeans are my current favourite things ever, and are from Liquor N Poker. I get so many comments from people about why on earth I would buy jeans with rips in them, so if you’re thinking that just remember it makes you old (joking not joking). The waistcoat is brand new and is from a site called Blaiz, if you don’t know it then you have to check it out; it’s a company that sells Brazilian clothes, shoes, accessories and jewellery and it’s amazing. I love the aztec pattern and whilst the look is appropriate for the town, it gives it a festival feel. Finally my shoes are my favourite things ever, they’re from an Italian brand called Loriblu and they’re so bad ass whilst being comfortable and giving me extra height. They’re probably the most complimented shoes I own.

The good thing about wearing jeans and a T-shirt is it’s pretty versatile so by changing the waistcoat for my camouflage bomber I created a whole new look for day 2! I got this bomber from Silkfred and it’s my current favourite thing ever as it’s got a bright orange interior and is padded so is super warm. It’s like a sleeping bag and perfect for chiller nights too.
Bomber Jacket: Liquor N Poker from Silkfred
Finally the optimistic outfit consisted of a good old Primani dress that I stole from the shoot I did for my Bic campaign with Danielle Peazer (by steal I mean I liked it so much the stylist gave it to me). Paisley is a pretty good festival pattern and I like the way it clashes with the Aztec and the black string tucks in your waist. I thought it would be a little too much red and black with black boots so I added some tan ankle boots from M&S. If only the weather was sunny enough 🙂
Dress: Primark
Boots: Marks & Spencer (similar here)
Neither of these items are available online anymore so Ive added some similar matches incase you want to shop the look:
Let me know what you think of my outfits, would you wear them? I might shoot more festival inspired outfit posts soon if lots of you are off to festivals. I’m going to SO many I’m so excited. Let’s just hope the weather is a little nicer. Anyway, you can browse the items (or similar ones) by scrolling through the images below:
I’m going to tell you all about my experience at Great Escape soon too, as I discovered so much new music. But for now I need to catch up on some sleep.
