Coldplay hold a very special place in my heart. My sister and I went to see them in Sunderland in 2012 for their Mylo Xyloto tour and we both say that it was one of the best days of our lives. It was pouring with rain and we queued from 3pm to get a really good spot in the open air stadium, but when they came on stage it’s so cliche to say but it was kind of magical. Plus it was the first time ever that the Xylobands had been used - you know the wristbands that light up. It was probably the first time I fell in love with Chris Martin too!
I went to Bali at the beginning of the year and got into that very happy state of mind that you do when you get away from it all and I found myself listening to A Head Full of Dreams back to back (I also just found myself full stop, lol).
Up & Up is the third single to be taken from this album and it features vocals from Beyonce and Merry Clayton as well as a guitar solo from Noel Gallagher. I love it for all the memories I’ve talked about above, but it’s secured it’s spot as my Track of the Week because of the amazing video. It’s one of the most magical and surreal videos I’ve ever watched, and Christ Martin agrees as he told Zane Lowe it was “one of the best videos people have made”.
