OOTD | Hostess with the Mostess

Last night I hosted Pink Ribbon London 2014 with the wonderful Nick Ede in order to raise funds and awareness for the Pink Ribbon Foundation ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Originally I planned to wear a long pink dress to match the theme of the evening, but three hours before the event I was told it wasn't that formal so I was left in a state of panic to plan a last-minute outfit.

I recently went shopping at Coast, you may have seen the incredible coat I got, and I also picked up an amazing lace and sequin pencil skirt. As the host of the night I wanted to stand out and thought the beautifully coloured intricate lace skirt would be the perfect show-stoppper but I wasn't sure what to wear it with. An skirt like this could be made to look incredibly ordinary if I dressed too safe, so I decided to ask my friend and super stylist Karl Willet for some advice. Karl styles Paloma Faith who is known for her immaculate and high fashion outfits, so it was amazing to get his advice.

He recommended I find some white stilettos, a white T-shirt a few sizes bigger than my own size tucked in with rolled up sleeves, and a white bag. He said to keep my accessories to an absolute minimum with just earrings and rings if I needed. He suggested I wear my hair straight with a centre parting, with heavy eye make-up and nude lips. I hit Oxford Street to see what I could do.

My skirt got so many compliments so I thought I'd share my outfit with you guys.

Outfit:

T-Shirt: Topshop

Skirt: Coast

Shoes: Topshop

Bag: Miss Selfridge

Rings: Topshop

Earrings: Topshop

Nails: the Body Shop Colour Crush in green. I must admit I did my nails in the taxi so they aren't done well at all, but this polish is amazing. You get a really good coverage from one layer although you'd never guess from the way I did it!

Tights: Marks & Spencer - clear tights, or granny tights as they're more commonly called, are lifesavers for me. Not only am I quite self-conscious of my legs, but because it's getting colder they provide an extra layer of warmth. M&S are the best tights on the market as they make your legs look flawless - they also do tights with open toes that are perfect for sandals too. People always comment on how good my legs look when I wear these tights, and no one realises I'm wearing tights. Welcome to my secret.

How amazing is the layered lace skirt? I'd love to know what you think of how I styled the outfit, and how you would style it.

Until next time... x
