beauty, boobs, books, & backstage
A weird combination, you might think. Well I am a little weird. I like to think weird is wonderful.
I’d say I’m naturally quite cynical – maybe it’s the Brit in me – but I often read blogs and watch vlogs and wonder how genuine the posts are, particularly when it comes to beauty. These days there are so many companies offering people freebies in return for posts and tweets that I sometimes question the sincerity of it.
Maybe I’m alone in my cynicism but either way, I solemnly swear to you dearest readers that anything I review will be 100% genuine. I will never say a product is amazing if it isn’t amazing. I will never say a book is brilliant unless it’s brilliant. And boobs, well I think we can all agree that they’re bloody brilliant.
That brings me on to my topics, you’re probably a little baffled about the boobs bit. Most people I mention it to are quite confused about why I want to write or vlog about boobs. So I will explain everything below…
Beauty
I am obsessed and fascinated with beauty products and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Let’s take make up! How many brands, colours, shades, textures, liquids, powders… How can one person look so many different ways? And how can a non professional – me and you – use all this stuff to make us look better? How do we know what to pick?
I am a fairly normal human being. That means I get spots – big spots, small spots, under the skin spots. I get dry skin – the driest actually, not to mention my hair. Oh, and ingrown hairs – I’m still trying to find a magic cure for those. And I believe in aging gracefully but I panic about my skin aging. What treatments work? What’s the best cure for those under the skin spots? How do you get rid of ingrown hairs? Which mascara gives you the longest lashes? What is the secret to long luscious locks? I’m going to trial and test all the lotions and potions as well as speak to industry experts, and YOU my lovely followers.
Boobs
Boobs fascinate me. They’re big, they’re small, they’re round, they’re saggy, they’re sexualized… Girls who have big ones want small ones, and vice versa. I have big boobs, and until quite recently I hated them. They prevented me from wearing all the clothes my friends were wearing as a teenager – or if I did wear said tops the teachers would have words with me, which made me feel even more ashamed of them. They made me look frumpy or prudish when I tried my hardest to keep them covered. They prevented me from being a catwalk model like the rest of my model friends. They prevented me from wearing beautiful lingerie. They made me feel fat.
That’s how I saw them until recently. Until I started to see people like Kelly Brook, Kate Upton, and Holly Willoughby (AKA WillaBooby) doing their thing and looking fabulous. Until I discovered how to dress to suit my shape. Until I realized that you don’t need to be size 0 to be a model.
I’m a big believer in size healthy – no matter what size that makes you. I love the range of underwear available. I’m proud of being curvy. And I’m also a BOOBETTE for breast cancer awareness charity Coppa Feel – so I now get to talk health and boobs at schools and universities around the country.
I want to share with you health tips, fashion tips, and lifestyle tips on how to look and feel great in the body you’re in. I’ll also share industry expert advice along the way whether it’s for boob health or boob fitting.
Books
I am a complete and utter bookworm. My favourite Disney character is Belle from Beauty & the Beast because she was from a modest background (like me) and always had her nose in a book. My kinda girl! I used to always have my nose in a book until I walked into a post at West Kensington tube station. That’s when I realized I was just a massive geek. I studied both French and English literature at University, and my bookshelf (& kindle library, SO modern I know!) is eclectic as my taste in music (that’s very eclectic). I will put my foot down on books about the monarchy though – Phillippa Gregory is a wonderful author but her novels do not do it for me.
Lots of people on twitter ask me for and also offer me book advice. Some of the best books I’ve read have been thanks to recommendations from the lovely people on social media. I want to let you know what I’m reading and share my thoughts. You might disagree – but that makes a fun debate and we all love a debate (and an active comment section).
Behind the Scenes
Premieres, launches, birthdays, press days, festivals – I get to go to some very fun events. I’d love to take you with me, and might even get to interview some celebrities whilst I’m there.
This is what happened when I went to the One Direction ‘This is Us’ premiere… I talk to fans, and take you on my day of hair and deciding the right outfit before taking you with me on the red carpet in London’s Leicester Square.
