ABOUT ME

A bit about me

Meet Ashley James. Like most women in the public eye today, Ashley has many strings to her bow. Not only a highly sought-after DJ, accomplished television presenter and popular model, she is also an articulate social commentator, activist and empowerment coach whose quick-wit, goofy sense of humour and authenticity have won her a legion of fans and an impressive social media following of over 346,000.

But what Ashley is most passionate about is using her platform for good; realising her responsibility to raise awareness for the causes closest to her heart.

A campaigner for mental health, body positivity and social media honesty, Ashley has appeared on both BBC News and Sky News to discuss topical issues and draw on her own past battles with self-harm, bullying and body dysmorphia.

As a feisty feminist, in 2018, Ashley was chosen to appear in a special series of Celebrity Big Brother: Year of the Woman, celebrating 100 years of female enfranchisement and in which she secured a place in the semi-final.

Last year Ashley made headlines and sparked a national debate following appearances on both Jeremy Vine and Good Morning Britain, where she advocated the right for single women to have IVF on the NHS.

She has been the face of PETA campaigning against fur, is an ambassador for Choose Love and for the past three years has been a celebrity face for Jeans for Genes, supporting children affected by genetic disorders.

TELEVISION.

A regular on British screens, Ashley’s television career has encompassed a wide and diverse number of projects. Whether regaling millions of Good Morning Britain viewers with the latest entertainment news, (recently standing in for Entertainment Correspondent Richard Arnold) to discussing transgender issues with the Prime Minister’s sister, Rachel Johnson, in the Big Brother House, Ashley has worked hard to forge a reputation of professionalism and relatability. She holds the regular slot of Social Commentator for European News Hour on the political cable channel, TRT World, where she often participates in lively Brexit debates and has even appeared on BBC One Political show, The Week.

Other credits have included hosting the award-winning Hollyoaks spin-off series, Slice of Summer; presenting alongside Emma Willis on Big Brother’s Bit on the Side; backstage reporting at The X Factor and interviewing The Vamps and Henry Holland for The Clothes Show Live.

DJ & RADIO

Despite being a self-confessed dreadful dancer (no, really!) Ashley’s DJ skills have lit up dance floors at some of the most exclusive events of recent years such as The Glamour Awards, Gigi Hadid x Maybelline launch and Cosmopolitan Fashion Fest. She is also the official DJ for actress Eva Longoria’s Global Gift Foundation and has worked for world-famous brands including Coca Cola, Samsung, Dior, Maybelline, Rimmel, The Outnet and French Connection.

She’s DJ’d internationally in Cannes, Ibiza, Marbella, Dubai and Thailand and at the Reading, Isle of Wight, Wireless, Citadel and Mighty Hoopla festivals in the UK. She’s even shared the decks with Groove Armada!

From 2015 - 2018 Ashley hosted her hugely popular weekly Hoxton Radio show, for which she was shortlisted for the IARA Award for Best FM/UK Radio DJ in 2018.  With a passion for rap, Hip Hop, Grime and R&B, guests on her Hoxton show included: G-Eazy, Mabel, Lethal Bizzle and Mario.

MODELLING & MORE

Since winning the prestigious title of ‘Bonnie Baby of Northumberland’ aged two (true story), Ashley has gone on to front many high-profile modelling campaigns, most recently working with High Street favourites, River Island, Oasis, Missguided and Spectrum. In 2014 she starred in the campaign for American hotel Cosmo in Las Vegas, directed by Academy Award nominated director, Mike Figgis.

No stranger to the red carpet, having first found fame on Channel 4’s BAFTA award-winning Made in Chelsea in 2012, Ashley is a regular face in the British press, and has even had columns in The Huffington Post and Closer magazine. A hopeless romantic and active globe-trotter, thanks to her inspirational Instagram account – full of beauty hacks, interiors ideas, fabulous fashion and messages of empowerment – Ashley has become a popular lifestyle influencer.

She lives in London with her toy poodle Snoop and cats, Biggie, Toulouse and Lady.

And finally, the multi-talented Ashley can speak fluent French (bonjour) and is also a trained sushi chef and lifeguard, which are, as you can imagine, both essential life skills.
