A bit about me

Ashley James first started her presenting career aged 16 for BBC Radio Cumbria, before securing a regular slot on Hoxton Radio allowing her to mix work with pleasure producing her own show which fuses hip-hop, R&B and grime. Ashley featured an array of special guests on the show including G Eazy, Raye, Mabel, Lethal Bizzle and Mario and was nominated for an IARA Award for Best FM / UK Radio DJ. Ashley also presented a guest show on Rinse FM.

Hoxton Radio kickstarted Ashley’s DJ career and in 2016 she alongside Model and BFF Charlotte De Carle formed the DJ duo “Bittersweet DJ’s” who have provided the beats for brands such as Dior, Jimmy Choo, Gigi Hadid x Maybelline UK launch, Coca Cola alongside Nick Grimshaw, Missguided, Samsung, Rimmel, Clinique, Heidi Klum’s clothing launch in London as well as travelling to Dubai, Cannes and Ibiza.

The dynamic duo has firmly cemented themselves as one of the UK’s most sought-after fashion DJ’s performing at the likes of The Glamour Awards, Cosmopolitan Fashion Fest and a Notion Magazine VIP party as well as featuring in multiple publications including Notion, 1883 and Debut Magazine. Bittersweet DJ’s are also the official DJ’s for Eva Longoria’s charity, the Global Gift Foundation, which has seen them perform all over the world including Spain and Dubai.

After rising to fame on E4’s hit show Made in Chelsea, Ashley has since worked as a Digital Presenter for Channel 4’s Hollyoaks’ as a host for their ‘Slice of Summer’ series. Ashley has held numerous presenting roles for the Clothes Show Live interviewing the likes of The Vamps and Henry Holland as well as presenting backstage at the X Factor. Ashley has also held panel roles on Channel 5 The Wright Stuff and Big Brother’s Bit on the Side with Emma Willis.

After building an impressive social media following of over 230,000, Ashley uses her platforms to discuss topics such as body confidence, dating, travel, fashion and beauty tips and secrets as well as documenting her busy work schedule.

Ashley is an advocate for honest social media and so is very passionate about not utilizing face tune, or re-touching on all of her images to help in empowering her followers to feel good in their own skin and to not be deceived by the over-edited and heavily filtered reality of social media.

As part of Ashley’s modelling credentials, she recently featured in a campaign with Sloggi x Vice Magazine focusing on body confidence and empowerment which involved no re-touching. Ashley has also modelled for River Island, Bic Soleil, PETA, George Swimwear, Jeans for Genes and Tutti Rouge.

2018 saw Ashley join Celebrity Big Brother as part of their Line-up for their “Year of the Woman” series, celebrating 100 years since women won the right to vote. After securing a position in the show’s semi-final, Ashley won the hearts of the nation inspiring young women to believe in themselves through using her voice to passionately discuss issues such as feminism, body confidence and sexism experienced in her industry.
